Who is responsible for the content

Our Calculator is responsible for the calculators, formulas, explanatory copy, examples, source selection, and corrections published on this site. We do not create fictional expert bylines, fabricated review panels, or credentials that the site does not have. When a topic requires professional judgment, the page explains the limit of the calculator instead of implying that a general-purpose tool replaces a qualified professional.

How calculator topics are researched

We start with the task a visitor is trying to complete: the number they want, the inputs they are likely to have, and the decisions or questions that commonly follow from the result. Established calculator and consumer-information sites can be benchmarked to identify recurring terminology and user questions, but competitor wording is not copied and competitor pages are not treated as authority for regulated facts.

For financial rules, government definitions, measurement standards, or other time-sensitive claims, primary sources are preferred. Examples include the IRS, Social Security Administration, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, U.S. Department of Labor, NIST, and other relevant public authorities.

How search terms are used

Primary search language belongs where it helps a reader understand the page: the page title, main heading, introduction, formula explanation, and relevant section headings. Related phrases are used only when the page genuinely answers that concept. We do not repeat keyword variants simply to create density, and we do not create separate thin pages for trivial wording variations of the same calculation.

How formulas and examples are checked

The calculation engine is kept separate from the interface so known-answer and edge-case tests can exercise the underlying math. Explanatory formulas are reviewed against the implemented method. Numeric examples should match the live calculator or an independently checked calculation before publication.

When a result depends on assumptions, those assumptions are part of the explanation. A payoff model should state whether interest is modeled monthly or daily. A tax tool should state whether it determines jurisdiction and taxability. A conversion page should distinguish an exact conversion factor from the precision of the original measurement.

AI-assisted research and drafting

AI-assisted tools may be used to organize research, compare recurring topic coverage, or help draft and edit explanatory material. They are not treated as a factual authority. The publishing standard is the same regardless of how a draft starts: the content must match the calculator, avoid invented facts or expertise, use primary sources where accuracy depends on current rules, and add useful information for the person performing the calculation.

Corrections and updates

Time-sensitive calculators and articles should be revisited when an underlying rule or official figure changes. When a calculation method changes, the explanation and examples should be reviewed in the same release so the page does not describe a different model from the one the software uses.

Why the content exists

The editorial layer should answer practical follow-up questions: what an input means, how the formula works, what the result includes, what it leaves out, and how to compare scenarios. If a section does not help with the calculation or a closely related decision, it should not be on the page.
